Since 2014, the Kremlin has considered the occupied Crimean peninsula to be part of the Russian Federation, which consists of two entities: the so-called Republic of Crimea and the so-called city of Sevastopol. Russian courts of general jurisdiction, including garrison military courts, magistrates, and commercial (arbitration) courts, operate on the peninsula. Similarly, lawyers licensed to practice law in Russia work in these occupied territories of Ukraine. At the same time, some of them continue to work as lawyers licensed to practice law in Ukraine.
