In 2022, the world witnessed the unprovoked armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, one of the consequences of which was the forced transfer to the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and the deportation of the civilian population of Ukraine to the territory of the Russian Federation (RF) and the Republic of Belarus (RB). The number of people subjected to forced displacement or deportation is difficult to estimate, but it is likely to be thousands of adults and children forcibly taken by the Russian military outside of settlements that were in the combat zone or occupied by the Russian Federation.
