On4 March 2024, at 12.00, the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Centre will host a briefing"The OSCE Moscow Mechanism on the Arbitrary Deprivation of Liberty of Civilian Ukrainians by the Russian Federation. Why was it launched and what will it do?".
The event is organised by the Media Initiative for Human Rights with the participation of the ZMINA Human Rights Centre, the Coalition "Ukraine. Five in the Morning" Coalition and the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Centre.
On 29 February 2024, the OSCE launched the Moscow Mechanism on the arbitrary deprivation of liberty of Ukrainian civilians by the Russian Federation. This means that in the near future, a group of independent international experts will begin investigating crimes committed by Russia against Ukrainian civilians. The broad mandate of the mission is to establish the facts of deprivation of liberty in the occupied territories and to investigate related crimes, such as torture and inhuman treatment. The report will be an important tool for documenting and proving Russia's crimes at the international level.
